Travel

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is located 80 miles from the University of Georgia. Average travel time between the airport and UGA is one-and-one-half hours, though travel time may be affected by Atlanta traffic. There is scheduled ground shuttle service between Hartsfield-Jackson and various points in Athens, including The University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education (which is sometimes called the UGA Georgia Center on various websites). For more information or to make a reservation, please contact Groome Transportation (706/612-1155, http://athens.groometransportation.com/). The round trip fare on the Groome Shuttle is $78. This is probably the best option, because a car is not needed once you are at the conference site.

Rental car service is also available at the Atlanta airport. Using www.rentalcars.com, a quick search finds several Economy Car options for $100 to $200 a week.

Although not recommended, it is also possible to take Uber/Lyft from the Atlanta airport to the University of Georgia in Athens (Uber fare estimator predicts a $72 to $95 one way cost): http://www.atl.com/rideshare/

For those wanting a much cheaper option (~$30 round trip), it is possible to take MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) from the airport to the MARTA Civic Center Station, then the “MEGABUS” to Athens. Detailed instructions associated with this option can be found with Google Maps. Use the “Transit” option, and indicate “Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport” as the point of origin and “The University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education” as the destination. https://us.megabus.com/
